Mold was found all over the roof sheathing trusses and insulation. The upstairs was around 10 degrees cooler than downstairs during our inspection in the winter. The problem was caused by high humidity in the attic being caused by lack of ventilation coming from the soffits as they blocked with insulation.
The homeowner explained that they have been having problems with ice dams in one of the bedrooms of the home and that all of the bedrooms were cold during the winter months and hot during the summer.
The TruSoft™ Cellulose Insulation we installed for this homeowner has a higher rated R-Value per inch versus fiberglass. The R-Value is a measurement of the ability to resist heat flow. Using this blown-in cellulose insulation you can have less inches and space taken for a better R-Value than fiberglass.
The dormer is under insulated and can also serve as storage if correctly done. We used SiverGlo foam board to insulate. We also built a new floor for our customer to have additional storage.
